Overview

Product Overview

Product Description

WL Series Vertical Pump – Space-Saving, Non-Clog, Double Sealed

Vertical dry-pit design – motor mounted above, pump end below floor level, saving footprint. Non-clog open impeller passes solids and fibrous materials without blocking. Double mechanical seal with oil chamber provides backup protection against leakage. Heavy-duty shaft and bearings for continuous operation. Optional wear-resistant liners for abrasive slurries.

KEY FEATURES

  • Vertical Space-Saving Design: Pump submerged in wet well while motor stays dry above – saves valuable floor space compared to horizontal pumps.
  • Non-Clog Open Impeller: Handles solids, stringy materials, and fibrous debris without blocking – maintains efficiency in dirty service.
  • Double Mechanical Seal: Dual seal with intermediate oil chamber provides backup protection; first seal protects against process liquid, second contains leakage.
  • Wide Hydraulic Range: Flow from 5 to 4500 m³/h, head up to 54m – one model family covers many pumping stations.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Options: Materials from cast iron to duplex steel for aggressive industrial wastewater or high-chloride environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum solids handling capacity of the WL pump?
The WL series is equipped with a non-clog open impeller. Depending on the model, it can pass spherical solids up to 75-100mm in diameter (approximately 3-4 inches). Fibrous materials like rags, strings, and plastics pass through without clogging. For larger solids or heavy ragging, we can recommend a channel impeller or cutter option.
Why choose a vertical dry-pit sewage pump instead of a submersible pump?
Vertical dry-pit pumps keep the motor and electrical connections completely above the wet well floor, making inspection, maintenance, and repair much easier and safer (no confined space entry). They also allow the use of standard industrial motors and are often preferred in large municipal plants where reliability and ease of service justify the additional building cost.
How does the double mechanical seal work and how is it monitored?
The WL pump uses two mechanical seals with an oil-filled chamber between them. The lower seal faces the pumped liquid, and the upper seal faces the atmosphere. An oil level sensor (optional) in the chamber provides early warning of seal leakage. If the lower seal fails, the oil chamber prevents immediate leakage to the environment, and the upper seal acts as a backup. Regular oil inspection is recommended.
What materials are recommended for corrosive industrial wastewater (e.g., pH 3-5 or containing chlorides)?
For mildly acidic or alkaline wastewater (pH 4-10), 304 stainless steel is generally sufficient. For higher acidity (pH 2-4) or wastewater containing chlorides (e.g., textile dyeing effluent), 316L or duplex stainless steel (2205) is recommended. Please provide your water analysis, and our engineers will confirm the optimal material for corrosion resistance and cost-effectiveness.
Can the WL pump be installed in a dry pit with long suction piping?
Yes, the WL is a dry-pit pump that requires a flooded suction (i.e., liquid level above the pump centerline) or a properly designed suction pipe with no air pockets. It is not self‑priming, so the suction line must be filled. For negative suction lift applications, please consider our SP self‑priming sewage pump series instead.
